Gyeongbokgung Palace

161 Sajik-ro, Jongno-gu, Seoul

The grandest of the city's five palaces and a genuine must-do. The vista is the reason to go, with the throne hall, the tiled roofs, and then the mountains of Bukhansan National Park rising thousands of feet directly behind the whole thing. Rent a hanbok nearby and entry is free, which is why the courtyards are full of them.
